Under their affiliation with Project Warcry, Bunker Supply has introduced the SABR Rugged Portable Data Center.
Developed by Airman Innovator MSgt Brandon Swenson, SABR serves as a remote “datacenter in a box” even in environments without internet access. It provides a digital repository with user-friendly applications, mirroring relevant systems, offering essential compute and storage capabilities, and automatically syncing information when reconnected to home networks.
Hardware Attributes:
– Local hard drive can be shared among all computers as network-attached storage (NAS)
– WiFi and Ethernet port
– HDMI and USB connectivity to control a single machine via screen, keyboard, and mouse
– On-board circuitry for controlling and reading various ad-hoc sensors and devices
– On-board power supply with integrable solar panel for extended sustainment
– Capability to connect SABR to SABR with MPU5 via Ethernet
Software Specs:
– SSH enabled
– Applications are containerized via Docker, making deployment of new applications simple and painless
Example deployed applications:
– Application dashboard so end-users don’t need to remember addresses
– Web GUI based file sharing service
– Wiki for knowledge management
– Gitlab for DevSecOps uses
– JupyterLab for data science uses
– Home Assistant to communicate with loT devices
System includes a solar panel for recharging internal battery and will accept various forms of power.
