SOF Week 25 – Bunker Supply Co

Under their affiliation with Project Warcry, Bunker Supply has introduced the SABR Rugged Portable Data Center.

Developed by Airman Innovator MSgt Brandon Swenson, SABR serves as a remote “datacenter in a box” even in environments without internet access. It provides a digital repository with user-friendly applications, mirroring relevant systems, offering essential compute and storage capabilities, and automatically syncing information when reconnected to home networks.

Hardware Attributes:

– Local hard drive can be shared among all computers as network-attached storage (NAS)

– WiFi and Ethernet port

– HDMI and USB connectivity to control a single machine via screen, keyboard, and mouse

– On-board circuitry for controlling and reading various ad-hoc sensors and devices

– On-board power supply with integrable solar panel for extended sustainment

– Capability to connect SABR to SABR with MPU5 via Ethernet

Software Specs:

– SSH enabled

– Applications are containerized via Docker, making deployment of new applications simple and painless

Example deployed applications:

– Application dashboard so end-users don’t need to remember addresses

– Web GUI based file sharing service

– Wiki for knowledge management

– Gitlab for DevSecOps uses

– JupyterLab for data science uses

– Home Assistant to communicate with loT devices

System includes a solar panel for recharging internal battery and will accept various forms of power.
